The Reverend  Sondrea L. Tolbert, Class of 1990

The Reverend  Sondrea L. Tolbert is a native of Alexander City, Alabama where she acknowledged Jesus Christ as her personal savior at an early age at Great Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. She is a 1990 graduate of Fisk University with a Bachelor’s Degree in English. She has a law degree from North Carolina Central University School of Law in Durham, North Carolina. Reverend Tolbert also earned a Master's of Divinity from Payne Theological Seminary in Wilberforce, Ohio.  

An ordained minister, she serves as an Assistant Pastor at the Fairfield Missionary Baptist Church where Reverend Howard E. Jones, Jr. is the Senior Pastor. She is also the former youth minister at Tabernacle of Glory Baptist Church (formerly Pilgrim Emmanuel Baptist Church) where she was licensed to preach. 

Reverend Tolbert is a judicial law clerk with the Honorable Monte D. Watkins, Judge of Davidson County Criminal Court Division V and an Adjunct Professor at Tennessee State University. She holds memberships in several professional organizations as well as the National Consortium of Black Women in Ministry (NCBWIM) where she is currently the Nashville Chapter Director and visionary for Pink Sunday Nashville.  

Reverend Tolbert is on the forefront of issues concerning both youth and women in today's society as evidenced in both her professional and spiritual life. Because of her calling, ability to communicate, and reputation for professionalism, she is often asked to minister to people across denominational, cultural and socio-economic lines, cultivating them to know that they are "fearfully and wonderfully made and created in the image and likeness of God for His Glory."
