STEPHENIE K. SMITH ’01 SPEARHEADS SUCCESSFUL YMCA CAPITAL CAMPAIGN

Stephanie Smith Stephenie K. Smith ’01, is the Executive Director of the Linwood Family YMCA in Kansas City, Kansas. She has held this position since 2011. Stephenie, her staff and team of volunteers raised over $9 million during the Y’s recent capital campaign. Stephenie was interviewed by What’s Up Kansas City? on October 22, 2015.

The Linwood community is undergoing a revitalization. The funds will be used to renovate and expand the Linwood Family YMCA building.  When asked what motivates her to do this type of work for the community Stephenie replied, “…holistic wellness is personally important to me as a social worker.” She continued, “It is important to me that people have self- determination - they’re determining who and how they want to show up in the world. They’re understanding that they have purpose and that is what our work is really wrapped around.”
