FISK UNIVERSITY TO HOST CONFERENCE BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT
-Division I Men’s and Women’s Basketball Conference to be held February 25-26 between Fisk University, Morris College, and Voorhees College-
Nashville, Tenn., February 2, 2017 – Fisk University will host the Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) 2017 Division I Men’s and Women’s basketball tournament at the Henderson Memorial Gymnasium. Semi-final play begins at 4pm on Saturday, February 25, 2017 between Fisk University, Morris College of Sumter, SC, and Voorhees College of Denmark, SC. The winners of the semi-final play will advance to the finals on Sunday, February 26, 2017 at 2pm. General admission tickets will be made available on Saturday, February 25, 2017 and can be purchased at the Henderson Gymnasium box office for $10.
“Fisk University has been a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA/ A.I.I.) conference for three years and it is indeed an honor to be asked to host the conference this year,” said Dr. Larry Glover, athletics director. “We look forward to welcoming the student athletes and coaching staff from Morris College and Voorhees College to Fisk. This will be a great event and we hope that our students and community will show their support.”
As a kickoff for the weekend’s events, the Fisk University athletics department will host the Athletics Annual Awards Banquet on Friday, February 24, 2017 at 6pm in the Appleton Room of Jubilee Hall. During the banquet, student athletes will be recognized for their academic and athletic achievements.
“The annual banquet is always a special time for our student athletics as we highlight the many contributions they have made to both athletics and to Fisk University. This will be a special moment for the students, staff, and many alumni that will be in attendance,” said Glover.
