GAA Chair Sam Williams A Message from the Chair

Samuel L. Williams, Jr. '68

Dear Fellow Alumni,

As we celebrated Homecoming 2024, we were thankful for the joyous and safe week of activities and events on campus. Yet we were faced with a sense of dismay at the racially threatening communications the students received.

GAAFU, Inc. stands together with the Administration in supporting our students at a time when there is a rising tide of divisive nationalism in our nation. We do not know what to expect over the coming years, but Fisk has always been an institution of determination.  Now is the time to band together to ensure the safety of our students against this credible campaign to intimidate and create fear in our community.

Vice-President Harris said, "We must be deliberate in our efforts." Her words are more important than ever. As the Fisk family we must rally together in sustained perseverance to protect what we love.

We support the Administration's efforts to create a safe learning environment for our students. Your financial support will give the University the needed flexibility to implement measures to be proactive towards securing our Alma Mater.

The pursuit of the Fisk dream must continue to remain Fisk forever.

Let our lives be full of both thanks and giving!

Warm regards,

Sam Williams '68, Chair
