Harold J. Crosthwaite, D.D.S. , Class of 1955

Dr. Harold J. Crosthwaite passed away on Sunday February 22, 2015 at the Martha Jefferson House in Charlottesville. A native of Detroit, Michigan, he was the son of the late Dr. LT and Margaret Crosthwaite.Dr. Crosthwaite was a retired U.S. Air Force Colonel and Professor of Dentistry at the Ohio State University. He was a Bronze Star and Legion of Merit recipient. He attended Fisk University, received his DDS degree from the University of Michigan, and received his Masters of Science in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Texas. Dr. Crosthwaite was also a diplomat and fellow of the American College of Prosthodontics. During his retirement Dr. Crosthwaite pursued his passion for amateur radio, reading, classical music, and staying in touch with former colleagues and friends throughout the county. Dr. Crosthwaite is survived by his wife, Sarah S. Austin (Fisk, class of 1954); his daughter, Margaret Kalka; his son, David Crosthwaite; and two grandchildren, Denise Rios and Michael Pascuzzi.
